  • Birds & Their Voices: our island is a major migratory stop-over for almost every bird found on the west coast, with populations of eagles, loons, herons, owls and songbirds residing here year-round. 4-8 hours or multi-day.
  • Animal Tracking: experience nature with premier wildlife trackers, specializing in the arts of tracking and the language of the birds. 6-12 hours or multi-day.
  • Wilderness Survival: learn the critical order of survival to gain confidence in outdoor emergency situations, and to keep your family safe even if the lights west out for an extended period back home. 4-8 hours or multi-day.
  • Wild Edible Plants: gather delectable wild edibles of the land and sea with some of our region's top herbalists who live right here on Lummi Island, and prepare a feast together using primitive cooking methods. 4-8 hours or multi-day.
  • Healing Herbal Spas: we'll bring the Herbal Spa to you, where you can enjoy facial masks, herbal steams, foot soaks, hair rinses, healing teas and other surprizes using herbs gathered right here on the island. 2-4 hours or multi-day.
  • Aboriginal Craftmaking: learn the ancient art of flintknapping using slate and obsidian, make authentic hide-drums, spin natural rope from local plants, and make other crafts with our primitive living specialists. 4-8 hours or multi-day.
  • Primitive Fire by Friction: yes, it can be done, and you can do it with personal instruction from our staff, making your own bow-drill or other primitive method to make fire like your ancestors. 3-6 hours or multi-day.
  • Local Geology & Astronomy: learn about the geology of the North Cascades and Puget Sound, discover stories of our crystal-clear nighttime skies. 2-12 hours or multi-day.
  • Local Ecology: learn about wetlands, intertidal life of starfish and sea anenomies, seaside old growth douglas fir trees, reclaimed fields of wildflowers and more. 2-4 hours or multi-day.
  • Naturalist Art & Journaling: join our resident nature artist to sketch and create nature writings about the trees, wildflowers, birds, mammals, frogs, ponds, beaches and tide pools of the island. 2-4 hours or multi-day.
  • Lostproofing & Orienteering: learn to navigate in nature with and without a compass, using maps of Lummi Island, and embarking on our orienteering challenge designed for all skill levels. 3-5 hours or multi-day.
  • Professional Music & Storytelling: join storyteller Bill "Bear Rock" Baroch, M.Ed. and our other instructors around the campfire with songs and tales from on and off the island. 2-3 hours or multi-day.
